Earning XP
XP is earned at a graduated rate. If a player doesn't sign into the game they will not receive their XP as we have no proof that they were there to play, no exceptions. Forum play, downtime, Good Role Playing and Costuming which had previously gained xp in the most recent chronicle are now considered to be part of the actual play of the game. If PCs wish to partake of any of these actions they will gain better insight into their characters, the motivations of NPCs and in some cases possibly be given crucial plot points that are not given out at session.
However, earning additional XP is possible. The ST Staff have multiple plots designated as minor, major and main plot types. Each time a plot is significantly advanced or completed every active* player will gain a boost of xp the moment the plot is completed. In order to avoid fire-storming every plot that comes towards the players the conclusion of plots can be worth different amounts of XP. Plots that are completed via combat where the main antagonist is will gain 4 additional xp at that time, plots that are completed on a social level where the main antagonist has been embarrassed and/or given up due to social pressure, or allied with to the point he has changed his plans; or plots that are completed mentally where the antagonist has been outsmarted to the point they are no longer able to complete their nefarious plans will earn 8 xp. It is at the discretion of the ST running that particular plot which type of bonus xp is awarded once it is completed. Regardless of the actions of the players only one type of plot bonus xp is given to the game as a whole, so characters who are primarily combat will still earn the same amount and type of xp as a mental/social character and vise versa. In addition, minor plots will give a bonus of 1xp, major plots a bonus of 2xp and main plots a bonus of 3xp upon completion or when a predetermined milestone is reached.
